Day 160: Venice

Aamulla kerättiin kamat kasaan ja lähdettiin Vicenzasta Veneziaan. Matka kesti vajaat kaks tuntia ja kun päästiin perille, vietiin kamat säilytykseen. Siinä menikin jonkun aikaa: jono oli niin pitkä että kun seistiin sen päässä ei edes nähty tavarasäilytyshuoneen ovea. No jonotettiin siinä sitten jonkun aikaa ja kun oltiin jätetty laukut sinne, lähdettiin etsimään turisti-infoa. Tultiin ulos juna asemalta ja kaikilta (tai ainakin multa ) pääsi rehellinen ”oooooooh” –ääni.  Niin kaunista! Meidän edessä oli heti Grand Canal gondoleineen ja siltoineen. Löydettiin turisti-info ja maksettiin kämäsestä kartasta 2,5€. Lähettiin suunnistamaan pikkukatuja pitkin kohti turistinähtävyyksiä, mutta löydettiinkin ihan ok ja halpa ruokapaikka joten jäätiin lounaalle siihen.

In the morning we packed and took at train from Vicenza to Venice. The trip took a little bit less than two hours and when we got there we took our bagst to the luggage storage. It took a while though: the line was so long that when we stood in the end of it, we couldn’t even see the door of the storage room. Well, we queued there for a while and when we finally got our bags in, we planned to try to find the tourist information. We got out of the railway station and we all (or at least me) had an hones “ooooh” –moment. So beautiful! Right theren front of us was the Grand Canal with all the gondolas and bridges. We found the tourist information and bought a crappy map for 2,5€. We started to walk towards some tourist attractions but on the way there we found an ok restaurant with decent prices, so we stayed there to have lunch first.

Jonoa / The line

Lounaan jälkeen jatkettiin siis sitten niitä turistimestojen ettimistä, jätskien kera tietenkin. Käytiin muutaman kirkon luona, kuuluisilla silloilla ja aukioilla. Yhdellä kuuluisimmista palatsin aukioista saa kuulemma kahvista pulittaa yli 50€, ei testattu. Näissä kahviloissa oli omat pienet orkesterit jotka soitti asiakkaiden toiveita viuluillaan ja muilla.. Oishan se hienoo joo. Turistipaikkojen jälkeen vaan kierreltiin suht sokkona ympäriinsä ja yritettiin löytää mahollisimman söpöjä kanaaleja ja siltoja missä ottaa kuvia. Ja löytyhän niitä jopa enemmän kun ois tarvinnut, totta kai. Illalla käytiin vielä uudestaan syömässä 2 ruokalajin menut. Luultiin että se ois ollu niinkun alkupala+pääruoka tyyppinen, mutta tietysti italialaiseen tapaan se oli 2 pääruokaa. Oltiin suht täynnä sen jälkeen. Ite vedin kulhollisen kasviskeittoa alkuun ja seuraavaks pihvin ranskalaisilla, Anna söi kans keittoa ja toiseksi annokseksi kanaa, Riikka taas söi alkuun jättiannoksen spaghettia tomaattikastikkeella ja seuraavaks mustekalarenkaita ja ranskalaisia :D ja hinta oli 15€, eli ei paha, vielä Veneziassa ja Grand Canalin varrella!

After lunch we continued with what we had started: the tourist attractions, and we bought some ice cream on the way of course. We visited a few churches from outside, famous bridges and squares. At one of the most famous squares you have to pay 50€ for a coffee, or at least that’s what we were told. In those cafés there were little orchestras playing whatever the customers wanted with their violins and all.. Would’ve been nice I guess. After the few tourist places we just walked around the city pretty clueless where we are and tried to find the cutest little canals and bridges where to take pictures.. And of course there were many, even more that you would actually need haha. In the evening we went to have dinner, two courses for 15€ We thought it would be like a starter and a main course but of course it was the Italian way: two main courses. So we were pretty full after it. I had first a vegetable soup and then a steak with fries, Anna had soup as well and chicken breast, Riikka had spaghetti with tomato sauce and fried calamari with fries. Hhuh! And the price was actually not bad at all, especially when you consider the facts that we were in Venice and right next to the Grand Canal with a perfect view!

Ruokailun jälkeen käveltiin vielä yks pääkatu päästä päähän, ja ettei vaan jäis ähky vajaaksi, vedettiin vielä lisää jätskiä. Sieltä suunnattiin juna-asemalle, haettiin kamat säilytyksestä ja pistettiin leiri pystyyn. Pelattiin pari kierrosta Shanghaita jonka jälkeen lähdettiinkin astetta hasardimmalle juna-matkalle kohti Pulaa, Kroatiaa.

After dinner we walked one more street from to the other end and back and had some more ice cream to be sure that we full enough haha. Then we went back to the railway station to get our bags, made a little camp there and had a few rounds of Shanghai. Then we started our hazard trip towards Pula, Croatia!
