Days 127 & 128: Un dia normal en mi vida

Noniin vihdoin se normipäiväpostaus, mikä on sinänsä turhaa koska tämmösiä päiviä ei enään oikeestaan ole :D tällä hetkellä on meneillään tentit, joten aamut menee lukiessa eikä urheillessa. Mutta kuitenkin:

Finally the day in my life post which is rather funny, because actually my days are not like this anymore. We have exams weeks now and thus I read in the morning and don't do sports :P But anyway:

Fressshhhh

Aamu alkaa siinä 8-9 välillä, herään ja syön jonkun pienen aamupalan, jugurtin tai leivän. Sitten kun Emmi herää klo 9, lähetään yhessä lenkille. Lenkin jälkeen saatan tehä jotain lihaskuntojuttuja, joskus vasta illalla, joskus en ollenkaan. 

My morning starts between 8 and 9, I eat something small, like a yoghurt or a piece of bread. When Emmi wakes up at 9, we go jogging together. After I might do some work out, sometimes I do it in the evening and sometimes I don't do it at all.

Urheilujen ja suihkun jälkeen syön kakkosaamupalan/lounaan ennen koulua, siinä 11 ja 12 välillä. Lounas on millon mitäkin, tänään se oli ruisleipää, munakokkelia ja mansikoita. Yleensä vielä ennen koulua syön jonkun välipalan tai sitte otan sen mukaan ja syön tuntien välissä. Tai joskus ostan suklaata koululta. :P

After doing sports and showering I eat a second breakfast/lunch before school, usually between 11 and 12. The lunch varies a lot, today it was rye bread, scrambled eggs and strawberries. Usually I eat  also a snack before school or then I take it with me and eat it between classes.

Koulua on vaihtelevasti 2-4 tuntia päivässä plus ryhmätyöajat. Tänään mentiin aiemmin koululle viimeistelemään yhden kurssin loppuesitystä, aiheena business idea. Meidän idea oli turvalokerot Barcelonetan rannalle. Koulu on siis nyt eri rakennuksessa kun ekat 2 kuukautta. Uus paikka on ehkä uudempi, mutta sitäkin karumpi. Luokissa ei ole ikkunoita (!!!!!) ja ilmastointi on _aina_ liian kylmällä. Eli koulussa ei tosiaankaan päästä nauttimaan kesästä kun ei nähdä ulos ja sitten on vielä kylmäkin. Kurssit on mitä on, osa kivempia ja osa vähemmän kivoja. 

We have school from 2 to 4 hours a day plus group works. Today we went earlier to school to finish a final presentation for our business idea, which was safety lockers on Barceloneta beach. Our school moved two months ago and this new school might be newer but also rugged. No windows and always too cold. So at school we definitely can't enjoy the summer since we can't see it or feel it. The courses are ok, some are interesting and some or not.

Koulun jälkeen tullaan kotiin ja laitetaan ruokaa Birten kanssa. Tai yleensä Birte laittaa ja mä syön :D Tänään vuorossa oli lettuja kinkku-juustotäytteellä ja salaattia. Koska taikinaa jäi sopivasti yli, saatiin vielä jälkkäriletut. Väliin laitettiin suklaavoita ja maapähkinävoita eli tuttavallisemmin Snickers-lettu ;) Illalla saatetaan pelailla korttia yhessä, tehä kouluhommia tai ihan vaan katella sarjoja läppäriltä. Nukkumaan meen yleensä puolen yön jälkeen, sopii paikalliseen rytmiin ihan hyvin ;)

After school we come home and cook something with Birte. Or usually Birte cooks and I eat :D Today we had crepes with ham and cheese filling and a salad. Since there was enough dough left we got dessert crepes too. We filled them with nutella and peanut butter, Snickers-crepe like we use to call it;) In the evening we might play cards, do some school work or just watch some tv series. Usually I'll go to sleep after midnight which fits the local day rhythm just fine;)

Ja sainpas kivaa postia yks päivä, nimittäin reilipassin! Matka se vaan lähenee (kirjoituspäivästä lähtöön 15 päivää!!!) ja tässä ehtii vielä ennen sitäkin tapahtua vaikka mitä. Tänään illalla lähden Suomeen pikavisiitille  hautajaisiin, kun tuun takasin maanantaina, on vielä pari tenttiä jäljellä ja siitä parin päivän päästä Emmi lähtee kotiin ja Riikka tulee tänne. Kauheeta miten aika rientää!

I got some post: my interrail ticket! The trip is coming closer and closer (from this day 15 days left in Barcelona!) and before it there's  still much to do. Tonight I'll fly to Finland for the funeral, then when I come back I have a few exams left, then Emmi leaves and Riikka comes here. Time flies! 

Days 100&101: N o t h i n g .......

Tiistaina tultiin Ibizilta kotiin, ja lähtiessä siellä TIETENKIN paisot aurinko kirkkaalta taivaalta, jes. Oltiin iltapäivästä kotona Barcelonassa ja lähettiin ostamaan jääkaappiin täytettä. Kouluun ei jaksettu mennä kun oli vielä lomamoodi päällä :P Yö meni naapureiden vappubileitä kuunnellessa, mä sain kyllä nukuttua mutta muut oli valvonu aamun pikkutunneille asti. Myöhemmin saatiin tietää että tänne taloon oli vissiin pakotettu joku tyttö joka oltiin sitten pahoinpidelty tai jotain sinne päin. Että näin täällä meillä.. Totuuttahan ei tiedetä mutta vuokranantaja pyysi olemaan tarkkana, ketä tänne ovisummerin kautta päästää.

On Tuesday we came back from Ibiza and OF COURSE the sun was shining at the clear cloudless sky.. We were home in Barcelona in the afternoon and went immediately to Lidl to buuy some filling to the fridge. We didn't go to school, still on the vacation mood ;P The whole evening we listened the neighbors having a first of May party. I slept quite well but the others told that the party went on until early morning. Later we heard that a girl was forced in the house and was maybe abused or something.. But we don't know the exact truth of course. The land lord just said that from now on we should be really careful for who we open the door and not. 

Keskiviikko oli täälläkin vapun takia vapaa, ja mä istuinkin sitten koko päivän partsilla vähän ruskettumassa. Alkuillasta pari kaveria, Jenni ja Johanna, tuli meille muutaman päivän lomalle. Käytiin tyttöjen kanssa tossa alhaalla kahvilassa syömässä kun muuta ei ollut auki. Illalla ei mitään ihmeellistä. Jee.

On Wednesday we were free because it was the first of May. I did nothing but sat on the balcony and tanned a little. Early in the evening two of my friends, Jenni and Johanna, came here for a few days holiday.  We just had something to eat at the cafeteria downstairs because nothing else was open. In the evening, nothing special. Wuuhuu.

Days 94-96: LIFE

24.-26.4.13

Keskiviikkona Emmis lähti takasin  Suomeen ja meillä jatkui "tylsä" arki. Pari päivää koulua ja perjantai vapaa, jollon vietettiinkin superlepopäivä eikä tehty yhtään mitään. Ite taisin olla ainut joka edes kävi ulkona, kävin ostamassa perunoita että saatiin tehtyä kunnon Suomi-ruokaa: lihapullia ja perunamuusia <3 Ilmat oli aika huonot, sato ja tuuli paljon joten eipä edes tehny mieli tehdä mitään.. Säästeltiin myös energiaa ja rahaa tulevaa Ibizan reissua varten. Ajattelin muuten että voisin tehä semmosen "tavallinen päivä" postauksen jossain välissä, eli millanen on tällä hetkellä mun elämässä ihan normaali päivä. Ehkä. Jos jaksan. :P

On Wednesday Emmis went back to Finland and we continued our basic lives here. A couple of days of school and then Friday off when we didn't do absolutely anything. I think I was the only one who even went outside of the apartment.. I went to buy some potatoes so that we could cook the ultimate Finnish dinner: meatballs with smashed potatoes <3 The weather was quite bad, rainy and windy, so I didn't even feel like doing anything.. We also saved our energy and money for the upcoming Ibiza trio. And by the way, I  thought I could maybe write a "normal day in my life" post some day so you could know how my life basically is here. Maybe. If I feel like it.. :P

Days 84-86: :)

14.-16.4.2013

Sunnuntaina pidettiin siivouspäivä. Siivottiin vessa lattiasta kattoon ja muualla kämpässä imuroitiin ja pestiin lattiat. Tän jälkeen lähin vielä "töihin" eli siivoomaan tuttujen kämppää Ramblan lähelle. Eli aika siivoomisen täyteinen päivä. Räpsin matkalla vähän kuvia keväisestä Barcelonasta ja eksyin myös meidän lähellä pidettäville sunnuntaimarkkinoille missä myydään lähinnä kirjoja, levyjä ja taidetta. Seuraava viikko alkoi tylsän tavallisesti koululla, urheilulla jne. 

Mun tietokone alkaa näyttää vanhenemisen merkkejä.. / My computer is giving signs of getting old...

On Sunday we had a cleaning day. We basically cleaned the whole apartment, vacuumed and washed the floors etc. After all this I went to "work" meaning to clean a friend's place. A lot of cleaning for one day.. On the way there I took a few pictures of Barcelona's spring and I ended up at a market near us where they were selling books, cd's, dvd's, art.. The next week started with basic stuff: school, exercising etc.

ps. nyt on alkanu huomaamaan vaikeuksia suomenkielen kanssa! Välillä kun puhun Emmille suomeksi, saatan sanoa jotkut sanat kaks kertaa samassa lauseessa koska englanniks sanajärjestys on eri, esim. "Eilen kävin eilen lenkillä." Myös yksittäiset sanat on hukassa, ajatukset on kääntyny englanniksi jne.. 

ps. I've noticed some difficulties in speaking Finnish lately. Sometimes when I speak Finnish to Emmi, I might say words in wrong places and multiple times in one sentence because the order of words is different in English and Finnish, for example "Yesterday I went jogging yesterday." Also some words have been missing, I'm thinkin g in English etc..

Days 80-82: La Roca Village

10.-12.4.2013

Ke+To lenkkeilyä, lihaskuntoa, venyttelyä, koulua, chillailua, ruokaostoksia (LIDL löydetty!= ruisleipää, raejuustoa, rahkaa, kermaviiliä jne jne <3) ja kaikkea muuta ihan tavallista! Ihania ilmoja, aurinko paistaa ja tosi lämmintä.

Wednesday and Thursday: jogging, exercising, stretching, school, chilling, groceries (we found LIDL! = rye bread, cottage cheese, quark, sour cream etc <3) and all the normal things. Beautiful weathers, sun was shining and a warm temperature!

Perjantaina lähettiin bussilla La Roca Villageen, joka on Barcelonan ulkopuolella oleva outlet kylä. Bussimatkat edes-takasin 12€, ei mikään paha. Mentiin ekalla bussilla klo 9, odoteltiin kauppojen avautumista kahvilassa ja klo 10 alko armoton shoppailu (tai no muilla, mutta mulla ei niinkään). Kylässä oli enimmäkseen design juttuja, mitkä nyt ei ihan oo se mun juttu. Mukaan tarttu kuitenkin erittäin kovaan tarpeeseen tulleet uudet juoksukengät Nikeltä, hintaa 49€! Tykkään kovasti :) Me oltiin Birten kanssa valmiita yhden kierroksen jälkeen siinä klo 12 jälkeen, mutta Emmi ja Ana veti vielä toisen rundin kun me istuttiin kahvilassa ja odoteltiin. Oli ihan järkyttävän KUUMA. Joka tapauksessa siis jos kiinnostaa design tuotteet hyvillä alennuksilla, kannattaa käydä! TÄSTÄ pääsette paikan nettisivuille missä näkyy kaikki merkit ja info mitä tarvii.

On Friday we took a bus to La Roca VIllage which is an outlet village right outside of Barcelona. The return ticket was 12€, ok. We took the first bus at 9am and waited for the shops to open in a cafeteria. At 10am we started our first round in the village and the ruthless shopping (or the others did). Most of the things there are designer stuff and since I'm not that into those kinds of things, I didn't find much. I did buy new running shoes which I really needed, from Nike for only 49€. After one round me and Birte were done but Emmi&Ana went for a second one. We chose to wait and sunbath on a terrace haha. It was SUPER hot, me likey. Anyway, if you are interested in cheap designer stuff, you should go. All the shops and information you can find HERE.

ps. taas... unohdinko kertoa että Birte asuu nyt meidän kanssa? jos unohdin, nyt viimestään tiedätte.

ps. did I forget to tell that Birte is living with us too now? If yes, now you know ;)

Days 78-79: Fun and not so much fun...

Maanantaina nukuttiin aika pitkään, ja kun herättiin, lähettiin samantien lounaalle/aamupalalle Annan kanssa, joka palaili Suomesta takaisin tänne Espanjaan. Ulkona oli ihan kiva ilma, niin vaan kevät on saapunut tännekin:) Syötiin ja rupateltiin siinä parin tunnin ajan ennen kun mun piti lähteä kouluun ja Annan juna-asemalle ja kohti Valenciaa. Mä menin koulussa vaan yksille tunneille, jonka jälkeen otin taksin Barcelonetaan missä Ramon jo odottelikin mua. Käytiin syömässä ihan kivassa ravintolassa rannan tuntumassa. Istuttiin siellä aika pitkään ja otettiin taksi kotiin, ja tänne tultiin viettämään viimestä iltaa yhdessä ties kuinka pitkään aikaan... Katottiin Django Unchained (tai alotettiin, ei jaksettu kattoa loppuun asti kun tuli väsy) ja sitten unille.

On Monday we slept quite long and when we woke up we went straight out to have lunch/breakfast with Anna who just came back from Finland. The weather was really nice and finally the spring has arrived in Barcelona too! We ate and talked for a couple of hours before I had to go to school and Anna to the railway station. I only took one of my classes at school and after that I took a taxi to Barceloneta where Ramon already waited for me. We had some dinner in an ok restaurant near the beach. We sat there for a quite long time and then took a taxi home, where we spent the last evening together.. We started to watch Django Unchained but basically fell asleep in the middle because we were just so tired. 

Seuraavana aamuna heräiltiin rauhassa ja pistettiin leffa pyörimään. Katottiin Django loppuun, ja oli kyllä hyvä leffa. Ja se on paljon jos mä jostain elokuvasta tykkään, kun yleensä en jaksa kattoa ollenkaan. Aamupäivä meni kauheen nopeesti ja ihan liian nopeesti tuli aika lähteä lentokentälle. Yritettiin jotain vähän syödä kentällä mutta ei siitä kauheesti mitään tullu. Ei muuta kun turvatarkastusta kohti ja sinne se Ramon taas lähti.. Seisoin toisella puolella niin kauan kunnes ei enää nähny yhtään mitään. Sitten vaan ihan pää tyhjänä bussi takasin Placa de Espanyalle ja siitä koululle. Ilta menikin suht pöhnässä ja aikasin nukkumaan.

The next morning we woke up in peace and put the movie on again. We finished Django and I have to say it was a really good movie. And that's a lot from someone who doesn't even like movies. The morning passed by realy quickly and too soon it was time to leave to the airport once again. At the airport we tried to eat something but neither of us quite couldn't. So, to the security check, and there he went again.. I stood on the other side as long as I could see anything and then took the bus back to Placa de Espanya and walked to school.  The rest of the day just went by.. Didn't do anything.

ps. unohtunu kertoa tällaset kaks suht oleellista asiaa: loman aikana tuli s-postia että meidän koulu muuttaa koska yhtäkkiä me ei enään mahutakaan sinne vanhaan.. hmm.. ollaan nyt siis n.10min kävelymatkan verran kauempana kuin ennen, eli ihan ok. Toinen juttu: meidän pesukone hajos. Brunssipäivänä huomattiin että kylppärin lattia on ihan täynnä vettä ja jouduttiin sulkemaan vesi kokonaan. Asia on kuitenkin hoidettu ja nyt meillä on uusi hieno pesukone. Tällä hetkellä jääkaappi osottaa ikääntymisen merkkejä, jospa se nyt tän pari kuukautta jaksais..

ps. I totally forgot to tell you a few things. First: during my vacation I got an e-mail that our school is going to move since we can't fit in it anymore??.... hmm.. Anyway, now we are about 10minutes walk further than before, so it's ok. Second: Our laundry machine broke. On the brunch day we noticed that our bathroom is full of water and we had to shut down the whole water thingy.. But the issue is now taken care of and now we have a brand new washing machine. At this moment our fridge is showings some signs of ageing but hopefully it will last for a few months more..

Day 54: Placa Espanya

Eilisen jäljiltä nukuttiin vähän pitempään ja aamu vaan hengailtiin kotona. Iltapäivästä lähdettiin pienelle kävelylle. Ajateltiin lähteä kerrankin vähän eri suuntaan kun yleensä, mutta loppujen lopuksi tämäkin tie vei Placa Espanyalle (huom. pari postausta sitten kun mainitsin että aina päätyy johonkin placalle..). Noustiin tällä kertaa ylös "vuorelle" ja otettiin siellä parit kuvat ja kierreltiin yläilmoissa olevaa puistoa. Paluumatkalla kotiin poikettiin taas Arenas de Barcelonaan urheilukauppaan mistä Emmi osti vähän urheiluvarusteita kun ollaan näin kovasti innostuttu ;) Kotona laitettiin superhyvää ruokaa, kanaa kookoskastikkeessa! Oli aika hyvää. Illalla tehtiin vähän kouluhommia ja surffailtiin kunnes ehkä kymmenen aikaan alko herkkuhammasta kolottamaan.. käytiin ostamassa karkkia, sipsiä ja suklaata ja voin kertoa että ei ois kannattanu. Ollaan pari viikkoa jaksettu syödä tosi terveellisesti (paitsi ravintolaillat) ja urheiltukin ihan mukavan verran, että tuli ihan järkyttävän paha olo kun söi niitä herkkuja. Kateltiin Modern Familya hetken aikaa, sitten kauheella pallomahalla ja morkkiksessa nukkumaan :D

Because of yesterday we slept quite long and didn't do much in the morning. In the afternoon we headed out for a walk and we thought that we could take another route than usually. We sure did, but this route ended up in Placa Espanya just like the others (remember when I said a few posts ago that you will always end up on a Placa ;)). This time we went up the "mountain" and took a few pictures and walked in the park up there. On the way home we stopped by Arenas de Barcelona once again to buy some sports equipment for Emmi since we are total athletes nowadays ;) At home we cooked some awesome coocnut-chicken! It was pretty delicious. In the evening we did some school work until 10pm when we both agreed that now we have to get some sweet and salty things from a Paki.. We bought chips, candy and chocolate and I can tell that it was not a good idea after eating healthy & exercising for a couple of weeks (except the dinners at restaurants) . Our stomachs were hurting so bad and we were feeling pretty sick.. We watched a few episodes of Modern Family and went sleeping with way too full stomachs and disappointed on ourselves! :D

Days 51&52: My new best friend

12.-13.3.2012

Tiistai ja keskiviikko meni taas ihan perus arkijutuissa. Käytiin juoksemassa&hyppimässä ja iltapäivällä koulussa. Tiistaina syötiin lounasta koululla ja illalla tehtiin ihan järkyttävän kokoset tonnikalamunakkaat! Ahdettiin ittemme niin täyteen että oli pakko ottaa lasilliset valkkaria palan painikkeeks ;) Keskiviikkona tein ennen koulua jauhelihataikinan valmiiksi ja kun tultiin koulusta, tehtiin hamppareita. Oli aikas hyvää :) Koulussa oli tiistaina siis global economya missä esiteltiin meidän business ideoita, ja meidän safety boxit rannalle sai ihan kivaa palautetta. Marketingissa saatiin meidän lopputyön tehtävä ja vaikutti ihan perus Laurea kamalta. Keskiviikkona doing business in spain, missä oli ihan kiva aihe "Food & Beverages in Spain."

Aamupala / Breakfast 

I spend Tuesday and Wednesday doing basic daily things. We went running&jumping again and afternoons we spent at school. On Tuesday we had lunch at school and in the evening we made the biggest tuna omelets ever. We even had to drink some wine to get our stomachs work after them haha. On Wednesday we did home made burgers and ah, they were delicious! At school we presented our business ideas in Global Economics, and our safety boxes on the beach got some nice feedback. In Marketing we got the final assignment and it seems to be quite the same what we've been doing in Laurea. On Wednesday we had Doing Business in Spain with a topic "Food and Beverages in Spain" and of course it was very interesting!

Ja koska taaskaan ei ollut oikeestaan mitään tähdellistä kerrottavaa, ajattelin listata teille vähän Espanjan ja Barcelonan hyviä puolia mitä on tullu tässä nyt jo mieleen. Emmin kanssa yks päivä alettiin miettiä että mikä täällä oikeesti on paremmin kun Suomessa (kun tuntu että mikään ei toimi, ja kaikke menee huonosti) ja löytyhän niitä vaikka kuinka paljon kun vaan alko ajattelemaan :)

1. Ilmasto

Vaikka täällä on ollut nyt alkureissusta aika huonot ilmat, niin silti, on täällä vähän parempi kun Suomessa. Mä en ikinä ole ollut mikään talvi-ihminen, joten mulle sopii tää keväinen +10-15 oikein hyvin :) Ja se, että täällä oikeesti näkee auringon päivittäin, antaa niin paljon lisäenergiaa!

2. Hinnat

Kaikki on halvempaa kun Suomessa. Ruokaostoksiin menee semmoset 30e/viikko jos sitäkään, ja kynnys lähteä ulos syömään on tosi pieni koska ravintoloissakin ruoka on halpaa. Vaatekaupat, etenkin espanjalaiset merkit kuten Mango ja Zara on täällä paljon halvempia kun Suomessa. Urheilukamat, viinit, jukisilla liikkuminen, suihkujutut.. kaikki. Paitsi sähkökaasuvesi :P

3. Elintarvikekaupat

Vaikka me asutaan keskustan hulinan ulkopuolella, meillä on silti tässä parin korttelin säteellä ainakin 3 pientä kauppaa, erillinen kalakauppa, erillinen juusto&kinkkukauppa, vihannes&hedelmäkauppoja.. Valinnanvaraa siis on ja jos ei ekasta kaupasta löydy jotain mitä haluat, seuraavasta tai sitä seuraavasta löytyy.

4. Kaupunkirakenne

Barcelonassa voi eksyä helposti, mutta löytää takas kartalle helposti. Aina jos eksyy, tulee hetken päästä jollekin Placalle, josta pystyy taas paikantamaan että missä on. Kortteleiden avulla on helppo suunnistaa ja helppo antaa reittiohjeita. Ja tosiaan, vaikka mekin asutaan vaan vajaan 2km päästä pahimmasta turistirysästä, on täällä meillä jo suhteellisen rauhallista!

5. Aioli

Ei tarvitse perusteluita. Me käytetään tota nykyään melkeen joka ruokaan.

6. Ruoka- ja juomakulttuuri

Tämäkään ei tarvitsisi perusteluita.. Ravintoloita on PALJON, joten on mistä valita. Tykkään erityisesti tästä Tapas-kulttuurista. Kaveriporukat ja perheet kokoontuvat ihan tavallisina viikonpäivinäkin kortteliravintoloihin herkuttelemaan tapaksilla ja _parilla_ oluella. Örveltäjiä ei näy.

7. Chinastoret

Miksei näitä oo Suomessa? Siis niistä löytyy kaikkea mitä ikinä vaan kuvitteletkaan tarvitsevas :D

8. Arkkitehtuuri

Täällä on vaan niin kaunista. Vaikka oonkin erittäin Helsinkiläinen ja rakastan Helsinkiä, on tää vaan jotain ihan uskomatonta. Kaikki pienet Gaudi yksityiskohdat katulamppuja myöten, random patsaat, suihkulähteet, ihan vaan tavalliset talot, ne edellämainitut Placat.. :)

Tässä nyt ihan muutama mitä äkkiseltään keksittiin. Ja kyllä, tykkään olla täällä tosi tosi paljon :)

Because once again I didn't have much to tell, I'd like to share some things about Spain and Barcelona that I like. Earlier we tried to come up with some good things here with Emmi (when everything was going wrong and nothing was working) and of course there's plenty of them when you just start to think about it!

1. The climate

Although the weather has been a little bit worse than expected, still it's better than Finland. I've never liked winter that much, so the +10-15 and the sun are just good for me! And the fact that you can actually see the sun everyday gives me so much more energy!

2. Prices

Everything is cheaper than in Finland. I use around 30e to the grocery store a week and sometimes even not that much. The prices in restaurants are also lower which  makes it even easier to go eat outside. Clothing stores, especially Spanish ones like Mango and Zara are way cheaper than in Finland. Sports equipment, wine, transportation, shower things.. everything. Except electricity, gas and water :P

3. Groceries

Although we live a little bit outside of the city center, we have within a few blocks 3 little groceries, fish store, ham&cheese store, vegetable and fruit stores.. So a lot of variety and if you can't find something in the first store, in the next one you will.

4. City structure

You can get lost here quite easily but you will find your way back again quickly. If you get lost, you will always end up to some "placa" and from there you can navigate your way again. The blocks make it easy to navigate. And like I said, we live only about 2km from the biggest tourist attractions but still it's very quiet and peaceful here!

5. Aioli

Enough said. We use it nowadays in almost everything that we cook.

6. Food and drinking culture

This one doesn't need any arguments either. Here you can find a LOT of restaurants where to choose from. Especially I like the tapas culture. Friends and families gather together on normal weekdays, too, to have tapas and a FEW beers. You can't find annoying drunk people.

7. China stores

 Why does not these exist in Finland? You can find everything that you need there!:D

8. Architecture

It is just so breathtakingly beautiful here. Even though I absolutely love Helsinki, you can't compare it with Barcelona. All the little Gaudí details starting from the streetlights, random statues, fountains, even the normal houses and the placas I mentioned before.. :)

Day 50: Nada especial

Maanantaina ei tapahtunut oikeestaan mitään erikoista. Aamulla käytiin taas juoksemassa ja laitettiin ruuaksi ite marinoitua hunajakanaa, perunoita, halloumin tapasta grillijuustoa ja avokadosalaattia. Koulussa financea (bläääääh inhoon tota kurssia) ja espanjaa, missä olinki tällä kertaa hyvä! Olin ainut joka oli tajunnu miten läksyt pitää tehdä ja maikkakin vähän ihmetteli kun yhtäkkiä osasinkin vastaukset kaikkeen mistä en viikko sitten tajunnu mitään :D Illalla tehtiin patongit (ollaan hyvin sisäistetty tää paikallinen bocatella kulttuuri haha) ja sitä rataa. 

Nothing special happened on Monday. In the morning we went running again and cooked chicken marinated in honey, potatoes, halloumi kind of cheese and avocado salad for lunch. At school we had finance (blaaah I really hate the course) and Spanish where I suddenly knew everything. I was the only one who had known how to do our homework and the teacher was kind of surprised of my skills too. Sudden.y I knew all the things that I couldn't even understand last week haha. In the evening we made baguettes (we have adopted the Spanish bocatella culture quite well :P) and so on.

Koska oikeesti ei oo muuta kerrottavaa, ajattelin että "esittelen" vähän meidän kämppää. Tosiaan osote on Carrer de Viladomat 56 niin voitte stalkkailla Google Mapsista. Talossa on kuusi kerrosta ja me ollaan ylimmässä ja sitä hissiähän ei ole. Sisälle tultaessa ensin tulee loogisesti eteinen, joka on semmosella pitkällä, melkein koko asunnon läpi menevällä käytävällä. Kun mennään käytävän vasempaan päähän, tulee Kontxin ja mun isot parvekkeelliset huoneet, seuraavaksi siivouskomero ja Emmin pienempi huone. Kun jatketaan käytävää eteisen ohi toiseen suuntaan, tulee vielä toinen pieni makkari ja kylpyhuone+wc. Vielä tän jälkeen tulee yksi makkari, mutta se on niin pieni ja ikkunaton (tai on siellä ikkuna olohuoneeseen :D) ettei siellä kukaan asu. Käytävän päässä on isohko olohuone + ruokailutila, missä on parveke ja ovi keittiöön. Kokonaisuudessaan siis 5 makuuhuonetta (7 sänkyä, mulla ja Kontxilla kummankin huoneessa 2), olohuone, keittiö, kylppäri ja parvekkeet. Hinta on 850€ + kulut joita maksetaan  nyt 160€ kuussa. Kesäkuun lopussa noi kulut tasataan, ja jos ollaan käytetty alle ton 160€ kuussa, saadaan rahaa takasin. Vastaavasti, jos käytetään enemmän kun nyt maksetaan, rahat otetaan meidän takuuvuokrasta. Nyt kun meitä asuu kolme täällä, vuokra kuussa on 336€/hlö mutta 1.4. myös Birte muuttaa tänne, jolloin vuokra on vaan 252€/hlö. Ihan ok hintanen siis. Kämppä on myös tosi hyvällä alueella, n. 15min kävely kouluun, 20min kävellen keskustaan, 15min kävellen satamaan, about 40min kävellen rannalle. Tähän mennessä kaikki on mennyt paremmin kun hyvin, kämppikset on ihania ja ongelmia ei ole ollut!

Because basically nothing happened on today, I thought I could give a little tour in our apartment. So the address is Carrer de Viladomat 56 so you can stalk on Google Maps. The house has 6 floors and we are on the top floor and like I've said earlier, no elevator. First when you enter the flat you will come to the hall, logically. Actually it's a very long hall way which goes almost through the whole apartment. When you go to the left end of the hall way you'll find Kontxi's and my big rooms. Next there's a little cleaning closet and then Emmi's smaller room. Then, when you pass the hall and continue the hall way you'll find one more smaller bedroom, the bathroom and one really small windowless bedroom (or actually it has a little window to the living room) where naturally no one lives. In the end of the hall way there's the living room + dining room and a door to the kitchen. In total, 5 bedrooms (7 beds, there are two beds in both of  the bigger bedrooms), living room, kitchen, bathroom and balconies.The price is 850€ + expenses which are now 160€/month. In the end of June the bills will be evened out and if we haven't used that much electricity/gas/water, we will get money back. And the other way around, if we use more, they will take the money from the deposit. So now that we are three, the price is 336€/person but in the beginning of April Birte moves in and then the rent is 252€/person. So the price is affordable. The location is good: 15min walk to school, 20min walk to the center, 15min walk to the harbour and around 40min walk to the beach. So far everything has gone perfectly, my roommates are wonderful and we hadn't had any problems at all!:)

So that's about it! It's not luxury but livable. Now I really need to get some sleep... Adiós!

Days 43&44: School and China store

4.-5.3.2013

Maanantai alkoi toiveikkaissa merkeissä, koska putkimies oli luvannut tulla tän päivän aikana korjaamaan meidän kaasukaapin! Siihen oli pitänyt tilata joku uusi osa minkä takia sitä ei viikonloppuna voitu korjata. Sovittiin että mennään illalla lenkille jos saadaan lämmin vesi toimimaan, ettei toisen tarvii aina painaa sitä  nappia. Sitä pitää nimittäin painaa aika tosi lujaa, ei oo mikään ihan helppo homma.. ja jos sormi lipsahtaa vähänkin, tulee jääkylmää vettä! Koululle mentiin taas 15.30 ja 19.30 päästiin kotiin. Financen tunti meni ihan ohi ja espanjassa olin taas ihan pihalla. Jaksan aina keskittyä semmoset 1,5h mutta vikat puol tuntia menee aina ihan ohi..  Noh, tultiin kotiin ja eipä täällä tietenkään mikään korjaaja ollu käyny. Jee. Erittäin ärsyyntyneenä laitettiin vaan jotain ruokaa ja datailtiin koko ilta. Ilmakin oli kyllä aika huono, vettä sato jälleen kerran..

We started our Monday with high hopes because the plumber was supposed to come to fix the gas thingy today. They had to order some new piece for it and that's why they couldn't fix it during the weekend. We made a deal with Emmi that we will go jogging if we have hot water in the evening so that the other one doesn't have to push the button all the time. And you really have to push it hard so it's not easy.. and if your finger slips even a little, the water will be ice cold! We went to school at 3.30pm once again and got home 7.30pm. Finance was boring and again at Spanish class I didn't understand much. I'm always able to concentrate for the first 1,5 hours but then I'm totally out.. Well, we came home and of course no plumber had been to our apartment. We were again pretty pissed off.. Then we just cooked something and surfed on internet the whole evening. On the other hand, the weather was really crappy once again, raining a lot, so I think we wouldn't have gone jogging anyways...

Tiistaina mentiin koululle sen verran ajoissa että ehittiin syödä lounasta siellä ja pitää vähän tiimipalaveria ennen tunteja. Global Economyssa suunniteltiin business ideoita ja Strategic Marketingissa pidettiin esitykset. Päivä oli suht nopeesti pulkassa ja lähettiin kotiin. Matkalla poikettiin Emmin kanssa vanhaan tuttuun kiinakauppaan koska haluttiin ostaa fonduesetti meille kotiin;) Ja tottakai sieltä löyty, koska niillä on ihan kaikkea! Hinta tais olla 3,90€ että ei paha. Ostin myös hammasmukin ja pienen rasian koruille ettei ne pölyynny tossa pöydällä. Ja kuorimaveitsikin tarttu mukaan haha. Käytiin vielä Pakissa (täällä sanotaan noita pieniä elintarvikekauppoja Pakeiksi, koska lähes poikkeuksetta niitä pitää pakistanilaiset/intialaiset tyypit:P) hakemassa vähän suklaata että päästään heti testaamaan meidän uus setti! Tultiin kotiin ja Kontxilla oli meille ilouutisia: meillä on lämmintä vettä! Vihdoin! Melkein viikko me sitä odoteltiinkin. Nyt meillä oli hyvä syy testata sitä fonduesettiä, pitihän tätä ilopnpäivää juhlistaa ;) herkuteltiin oikeen kunnolla ja vielä kivasti iltapalaksi!

 On Tuesday we went to school earlier so that we can have lunch and a team meeting before classes. At Global Economy we had to come up with new business ideas and at Strategic Marketing we had the presentations. The day went really fast and we walked home. On the way home we went to the China store once again, this time we wanted to buy a fondue set!;) And of course they had it. They hadn't let us down yet! We also went to a Paki (here they call the little grocery stores the Pakis because most of the stores are owned by some Pakistan or Indian guys :P) to get some chocolate so we can try the set right away! WE came home and Kontxi had the best news ever: we have hot water! Almost one week we waited for it. And now we actually got a reason to celebrate and try the fondue set haha. So just before going to sleep we ate a lot of fruits and chocolate, yummy!

Days 36-38: SCHOOL and more

25.-27.2.2013

Maanantaina aamulla meidän piti mennä jälleen agencyyn, tällä kertaa rahan kanssa. Ite nukuin pommiin (taas) mut onneks Emmi pelasti ja makso munkin osuuden! Meidän piti maksaa välityspalkkio/varausmaksu joka oli semmoset 170e per nassukka.. kivaa. Mutta tällä me varmistettiin että uus kämppä on varmasti meidän, ja kokonaan meidän! Päädyttiin nimittäin ratkasuun, että vuokrataan koko kämppä ensin kolmistaan (minä, Emmi, Kontxi) ja huhtikuussa Birte muuttaa neljänneksi. Tulee näin paljon halvemmaksi! Kämpästä lisää vähän myöhemmin. Agencysta menin suoraan koululle tekemään läksyjä, sitten tunnit 15.30-19.30. Financen tunnilla saatiin vaihteeks taas ryhmätyötehtävä ja tän lisäksi esseen tyyppinen yksilötehtävä.. siis pitääkö täällä opiskellakin?? Espanjan tunnit meni perinteisesti monttu auki ihmetellen että miks en tajuu mitään. Koulusta kotiin, perus hengailua ja nukkumaan.

On Monday we had to go to the agency once again, this time with money! 170€/each to "make a reservation" of the flat. On the other hand, this is how we made sure that the apartment is ours, and only ours! We decided to rent the whole flat first for the three of us (me, Emmi, Kontxi) and in the beginning of March also Birte will move in. It was way cheaper to take the whole flat than just ro by room.. But more about the flat later on! After the agency I went to school to finish some homework, then classes 3.30-7.30pm. At the finance class we got yet another groupwork assignment, yay, and also an essay type of individual assignment.. so we have to study here in Spain as well?:P Spanish class went quickly, I just sat there and wondered why I can't understand a word.. Maybe someday.. Next: home, basic hanging out and sleep!

Tiistaina ei tapahtunut mitään erikoista, paitsi rakkaan siskon synttärit tietty! <3 Juhlistetaan sitten yhdessä kun muutaman viikon päästä tuut tänne!:)En tosiaan muista tehtiinkö jotain erityistä.. Ei me taidettu.

On Tuesday I really didn't do anything if I remember correctly. Just school and stuff. Veera's B-day! <3 We will celebrate together when she comes here in a few weeks! But yeah, that's about it.

Keskiviikkona oli taas ihan tavallinen koulupäivä, 15.30-17.30. Koulusta suoraan kotiin ja aloin laittamaan ruokaa. Yhtäkkiä Emmi soittaa mulle, että hei, me saadaanki viedä meidän kamat uuteen kämppään jo tänään (alunperin muuton piti olla perjantaina)! Siinä sitte aloin pakkaamaan, skypettelin hetken ja jatkoin pakkaamista. Siinä kahdeksan aikoihin sitten nostin rinkan selkään ja otin ulkoota taksin kohti uutta osoitetta, Carrer de Viladomat 56. Emmi ja Kontxi oli mua vastassa alhaalla ja sitten alko tavaroiden roudaaminen kuudenteen kerrokseen. Ja talossa ei ole hissiä. Virallisesti meidän kämppä on neljännessä kerroksessa, mutta paikalliset ei laske ensimmäistä kerrosta ollenkaan (0/B-kerros) ja toinen kerros saattaa usein olla esim. kellarikerros jota ei lasketa. Niinkuin meidänkin talossa. Noh, vietiin siis tavarat ylös ja hetken aikaa fiilisteltiin uutta asuntoa. Lähdettiin yhdessä kävelemään kohti metroasemaa mistä mä jatkoin Barcelonetaan ja Emmi&Kontxi kotiin metroaseman kulmille. Viimestä kertaa iltapalaa ja nukkumaan nykyisessä kämpässä :)

On Wednesday we had a normal day at school from 3.30pm till 5.30pm. I came straight home and started cooking when suddenly Emmi called me that we can move our stuff already today to the new apartment (originally it was supposed to be Friday)! I started packing, skypeing and eating at the same time and around 8pm I was ready. I took the backpack and took a taxi to the new address. Carrer de Viladomat 56. Emmi&Kontxi already waited for me there and we started to carry my bags upstairs to the 6th floor, no elevator. Officially our flat is on the 4th floor but they don't count the first floor at all and the next floor can sometimes be a cellar floor etc which is also not counted. Like in our house. Well, we took the stuff upstairs and hang out for a while. We walked together to the metro station where from I continued to Barceloneta and the girls to their home nearby. I had some food and I went to sleep, for the last time in the Barceloneta apartment!:)
