Days 174-177: Berlin

14.-17.6.2013

Silti! :) Pari ekaa päivää meni lepäillessä, kuulumisten vaihtamisessa ja shoppaillessa, jjee!

After our last night train we arrived in Berlin where we stayed with the lovely couple Birte and Ray, my Barcelona roommate and her boyfriend. It was so nice to see Birte again even though it hadn't been that long since we saw each other in Barcelona.. Still!:) The first two days we just chatted, rested and shopped, yayy!

Väsyneet, mutta onnelliset / The tired, but happy ones

Tämmöset uskomattomat aamupalasysteemit saatiin joka aamu! / This is how our breakfast table looked like every morning!

Jälkimmäiset kaksi päivää meni taas nähtävyyksiä kierrellen, ja taidettiin me vähän shoppaillakin lisää.. Aamulla taas matka jatkuu....

The last two days were full of sightseeing and maybe a bit of more shopping too... :P Of course we went to see the Berlin wall, or what was left of it. And Birte told that there is some plans for removing the whole wall, not nice I think. The next day we saw the gate of Brandnburg and the memorial for the holocaust. Especially the last one was quite impressive, 2711 stones standing there! Our tour continued to a Reichstag building. We had filled an application a few days earlier so that we could enter the building, and free of charge! We went up with an elevator to a "dome" and there was a audio tour, free of charge part 2 haha. We did that and took a few pics and then headed home via a kebab place, nomnom. In the evening we went to an open air fest. It was pretty cool, a roof top party! The view was beautiful by night, nice chill music and a few beers, me likey. Personally I like these kind of chill parties more than hard core clubbing :) WE sat there for a couple of hours on the comfy sofas before we went back to the apartment. The next morning the journey continued once again...

Days 172&173: Krakow and Auschwitz

12.-13.7.13

After the lovely Prague we headed for a short trip to Poland. The whole day in a train and when we eventually got to our hostel, they told that there has been some kind of a mistake and they don't have our reservation. And the hostel is full. Yay. At this point we were pretty tired, hungry, angry.. They got us a new hostel, double the price (they paid the difference) but way worse. They didn't speak any English at the reception and all they did was drink beer. We left our stuff there and went out to eat. I was so hungry and tired that I was getting nauseous and couldn't eat basically anything. Back to the hostel, straight to bed and tomorrow is a new day.

Vissiin alko olee vähän levotonta junassa... / I think we were pretty done with the trains at this point...

Basically the only reason for going to Poland was that we all wanted to visit Auschwitz. Of course there would've been more to see even just in Krakow but the truth is that we just didn't have time for everything. Anyway, the next morning we jumped on a train to Auschwitz. We had a guided our (8€ I think) for almost 4 hours and what a tour it was... I can't describe how it was. Contradictory: you are going there very "excited" and still you know that horrible things happened there. Even the weather wanted us to have the maximum experience: the rainiest and grayest day of our trip so far. Anyway, the trip was really good and I learned a lot more important stuff. If you have a chance, go there! And definitely on a guided tour, the area is so big that without a guide it's just headless wandering..

Days 169-171: Prague

9.-11.7.2013

Kun muut lähti baariin, me mentiin "tylsinä" vaan nukkumaan!

After the unfortunate trip to Budapest we headed to Prague. We sat almost the whole day in a train and when we arrived at our hostel we decided not to do anything else than just eat somewhere. We went to a Mexican restaurant nearby to have some fajitas and then back to the hostel. We planned the future a little and had a few beers with some new buddies. When others left to go to a club, we were "boring" and went to our beds!

rähjäsenä ravintolassa / in the restaurant, looking like a mess

The following day we went for a city tour, but since I was still not allowed to walk, the girls also agreed to have a tram tour :P We bought day tickets to the public transportation and moved from a sight to another with trams. We visited the castle, the  Jewish block, Charles Bridge and of course the famous astronomic clock tower. We also went shopping a little in the end of the day. A nice day and it was pretty easy to see the city even without walking much! ;)

Our last day in Prague was full of shopping, sightseeing and ice cream balls. The weather was a bit chilly this time but actually it didn't matter. Early back to the hostel to pack and to take a shower in the bathroom where our dear roommate had puked earlier that day :))))))))))

Days 167-168: Budapest

7.-8.7.2013

From Vienna we continued our trip to Budapest! It didn't start very well, because I had checked the train schedules wrong and we were at the wrong station 20min before the train left.. We took a taxi and by some miracle we made it to the right train in time. The train trip went pretty fast, played some Shanghai and slept. In Budapest we tried to find our hostel without even knowing the name of it, it was super hot and we had no idea where it would be.. Eventually we found our boat hostel (so we spent two nights in the river Danube!) which turned out to be a hotel after all. And it cost us 10€/night/person. We threw our bags in the room and went to the hotel restaurant because we were starving and we got a discount voucher to be used there. The food was actually really good, one of the best ones during this trip I'd say. At some point when we were eating I felt something weird on my foot. I got a blister there already in Pula and it didn't start to heal very well and it hurt a bit. But I didn't care, and so we walked to the city to see some places.

Hän sitten totes että "it is just a local infection so in this stadium the best thing is to just wait 1 week." "In this stadium (stadium=?!?!??!) when it is only a local infection, antibiotics would not work. The next step is clinical surgery." Olin että jaahas, ihan sama, huomenna uudelle lääkärille.

After a couple of hours I told the girls that I have to go back to the hotel because the foot was hurting a lot. When I was there, I took the band aid off and found something pretty nasty.. At this point I could barely walk and the whole foot was swollen. I contacted my dear aunt in Finland who is a nurse and she said that I should go tot the doctor immediately if possible. And we did (with Riikka). It was around 10pm and we got a cap from the hotel even though the doctor wasn't even a kilometer away. Our driver was a really old guy and he had definitely no idea where we are going, but after a few U-turns and 15 minutes we were there. We went to the lobby and waited for a while and then I went to see the doctor. He was not a really good one I think because all he said was "In this stadium (=????) when it is only a local infection the best thing to do is just to rest and not walk for a week." Well, I told him that I am on an InterRail so I really don't have time to rest for one week, so maybe he could give me antibiotics. "In this stadium, the antibiotics wont work. The next step is clinical surgery." Alrighty. I thought I need to visit another one tomorrow.

When I came out from the doctor's room, I saw Riikka who was looking odd and told what had just happened. Well, while I was at the doctor, the old taxi driver had come to the lobby and started to shout something in Hungarian. A local couple who was also there translated to Riikka that the driver claims that we stole his phone! When we were about to leave the building, the guy came back and again said that we have his phone. He said that the phone has a GPS thing in it, so that the call-center can call the phone and locate it, and that's what they did and it says that the phone is at the doctor's...Yep. Well, we then emptied our bags on the floor to show the guy that we don't have it. He didn't believe and run out, shouting that he will wait us outside. The doctor was really nice and called us a cap from another taxi company and we went out to wait for it. The guy was still there looking for his phone and we saw our taxi coming. It came closer and we realized that it's from the same company as the previous one, and before we realized what is going on, the whole street was full of those taxis! There where around 10 of them and big Hungarian guys came out of them, asking what kind of a problem do we have. We told them that we don't have any problem, but the old guy has. For a while they tried to solve the problem and then our real taxi came. Still, they were trying to not let us go in to the car and offered a free ride from the doctor to our hotel as an apologize. We didn't take the offer and thought that it's probably safer to just take the another one and pay for it :P So after all this, we arrived safely back to the hotel with nothing more than a funny story to tell.

The next morning we went to another doctor that my insurance covers and they took really good care of me :P I got antibiotics (and since we are traveling I got a medicine that can be taken with beer too :P) and some antibiotic cream. I was not allowed to walk for two days so I pretty much missed Budapest. But still it's better than next step surgery ;)

Hieno lääkäriasema haha / A nice building where the doctor was haha
